Tasmania’s tourism initiatives to be congratulated
The Tasmanian Government has developed – for the first time – a five year Tasmanian Access Strategy. The Premier Will Hodgman announced the five year sea and air access strategy, which will deliver sustainable air and sea services for passengers and freight to meet the State’s goals of attracting 1.5 million visitors annually to Tasmania by 2020.
Allied to that, the Tasmanian Government and Federal Tourism Minister, Richard Colbeck, announced a new employment plan for Tasmania’s North West and West Coast tourism industry to help re-skill its workforce and create the capacity to handle stronger growth in traveller numbers. The Plan targets projects to ease regional employment pressures and skill shortages, help retain quality staff, coordinate training needs with business planning, and encourage labour mobility.
