TAA National Board Meets at Parliament House

In early March the TAA National Board held their first meeting of the year in Parliament House in Canberra. 

Meetings were held with

  • Minister for Tourism, Senator, the Hon Richard Colbeck to discuss the issue of unregulated accommodation and the collaborative economy; labour & skills shortages inclusive backpacker tax; accommodation and tourism investment and performance of regional Australia;
  • Minister for Employment, Hon Michaelia Cash MP to discuss workplace relations; labour & skills shortages; training packages and the Hotel Career Expo;
  • Assistance Minister for Science, Hon Karen Andrews MP to discuss the review of the disability premises standards;
  • Minister for Finance; Special Minister of State, Senator the Hon Mathias Cormann to discuss the backpacker tax; fair taxation between commercial operators; stimulating investment in regional infrastructure;

Discussions were also held at a lunch with the new Minister for Trade & Investment, the Hon. Steven Ciobo and the Hon. Dr Andrew Leigh, Shadow Assistant Treasurer, Shadow Minister for Competition as well as a range of cross-party politicians.
