Study shows regulation breaches by ‘share’ accommodation operators
TAA has put together a review paper to compare the regulations that legitimate short-term accommodation operators need to comply with compared to unregulated operators.
The review – Regulated vs. the unregulated economy: A comparison of legislative frameworks, regulatory processes, taxes and consumer protections – covers a range of areas including guest safety, building compliance, council regulations, taxation and insurance policies, which are mandatory for legitimate short-term accommodation operators.
We will be using this review paper in a variety of submissions to government inquiries on the impact of the so-called share economy. Our first submission is to the “Inquiry into the adequacy of the regulation of short-term holiday letting in NSW’. The closing date for the submission is Monday November 9, 2015.
