New Arrangements for the development and review of industry training packages

February 22, 2016

As advised previously, late last year the Australian Government introduced a new framework for engaging industry in the development of training packages.   The new training package framework consists of three key entities:

a) Australian industry and skills committee

b) Industry reference committees

c) Skills Service Organisations.

On 27 January 2016, the Hon Luke Hartsuyker MP, Minister for Vocational Education and Skills announced that SkillsIQ Pty Ltd would be the Skills Service Organisation that will be responsible for servicing the Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Industry Reference Group in the development of our industry training packages.

For those who are not familiar with SkillsIQ, the formation of SkillsIQ has been supported by Service Skills Australia and Community Services and Health Industry Skills Council.  SkillsIQ is not a merger of these organisations, but a new not for profit company which has an independent Chair, The Hon Dean Brown, AO, former Premier of South Australia.

The SkillsIQ interim website, is now live.
