2015/16 Annual Wage Review
The Minimum Wage Panel of the Fair Work Commission recently issued its 2015/2016 annual wage review decision.
The Minimum Wage Panel determined the following:
- An increase of $15.80 (or 41 cents per hour) to the National Minimum Wage, bringing the weekly rate to $672.70 per week. This means the National Minimum Wage will increase from $17.29 to $17.70 per hour., and
- An increase of 2.4% to modern award minimum wages.
The new wage rates and allowances apply from the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 July, 2016. For example, if your pay period runs from Monday to Sunday, the first day that the new rates will apply is Monday, 4 July 2016.
Each State and Territory Branch of TAA has distributed updated wages and allowances guides.

Penalty Rates
The matter is now reserved. A decision is expected to be handed down later in the year.
Part-time/Casual Employment Common Issue
This hearing will continue before a Full Bench of the Fair Work Commission from 11-15 July and 15-19 August 2016.
The AHA is seeking a more flexible part-time employment provision and has filed extensive evidence and submissions supporting its proposal.
