Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA)

TAA’s inaugural Education Program is the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute’s (EI) highly regarded Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) for Hospitality Executives.

The CHA is the most prestigious certification available to a hotel general manager and hospitality executives and is now available to TAA Members.

Globally recognised, the CHA will validate your advanced knowledge in the hospitality industry and is an honour awarded to industry professionals whose leadership and managerial abilities are exemplary.

The Online CHA program affords you the flexibility to study when it’s convenient, at your own pace and without having to leave your workplace.

Through the provision of extensive resource materials (Exam Preparation Booklet and a Three Volume Study Materials) and access to online tool applications you will be successfully prepared for the CHA Exam:-

CHA Online Review – is a self-paced online preparation course providing the same instruction as attending a CHA review session in person, without having to travel.

The CHA Online Review covers six (6) modular presentations that correlate to each section of the CHA Study materials:

  • Financial Management
  • Sales and Marketing
  • Leadership Management
  • Human Resources Management
  • Rooms Management
  • Food & Beverage Management

CHA Online Assessment Tool is a diagnostic tool to help assess areas of hospitality knowledge, comprising six 30 question quizzes that correlate to the six sections of the CHA study guide as outlined above.

The assessment also provides valuable feedback including a review of missed items answered,  a detailed performance report, instant feedback on incorrect answers and identifies where the information may be found in the study guide for further review.

CHA Online Exam

THE CHA Exam consists of 200 multiple-choice questions that must be answered within a four hour time period. All test questions are designed to test the candidate’s mastery of various competencies derived from six key areas of knowledge in combination with on-the-job work experience.

All online exams will require supervision. A proctor may be a CHA, a hospitality educator, an AH&LA member association or executive, your immediate supervisor or a member of the clergy.

Once certified, designees are automatically enrolled in the CHA Recertification Program, which recognises and rewards continuing efforts towards hospitality career growth and provides a portfolio designed to track professional-development.

Recertification: Every 5 years, participants will, based on qualified accomplishments, be recertified and awarded a jewelled lapel pin (reflecting the number of years certified) and certificate.

How much does the CHA Program cost?

Fee for the CHA Program is:

  • TAA Members: $450
  • Non Members: $650

Fee includes: CHA Exam, Preparation Booklet, Three Volume Study Materials, Exam, Certificate and Lapel pin on successful completion of the CHA exam. The Online Assessment tool can be purchased at an additional fee of $75.

The CHA designation may be used on letterhead, business cards and other writings.
